I actively used GSM codes to set up call forwarding during the brief period I had two phones. Below you may find some useful codes. These can also be saved as contacts for quick access and use.

Code scheme

Most of the codes below follow the following pattern:

  • Check status: *#code#[SEND]1
  • Activate: *code#[SEND]
  • Register and Activate: **code#[SEND]
  • Deactivate: #code#[SEND]
  • Deactivate and Unregister: ##code#[SEND]

Call diversion / forwarding

Forward all calls

Forwards all calls to the registered number. If set this overrides all other diversions. Note, your handset will not receive any calls while this forwarding is active.

  • Set: **21*destination#[SEND]2
  • Cancel: #21#[SEND]
  • Query: *#21#[SEND]

Forward if busy

Forward incoming calls if you are currently in a call or in the progress of making a call.

  • Set: **67*destination#[SEND]3
  • Cancel: #67#[SEND]
  • Query: *#67#[SEND]

No Answer

Forward incoming calls after ss seconds if the incoming call is not answered. Also known as missed call

Delay ss seconds: max 30 seconds, in 5 second increments

  • Set: **61*destination**ss#[SEND]4
  • Cancel: ##61#[SEND]
  • Query: *#61#[SEND]

Forward if unreachable

Forward calls when the handset is not connected to the network (i.e. off or out of coverage)

  • Set: **62*destination#[SEND]5
  • Cancel: #62#[SEND]
  • Query: *#62#[SEND]

Call waiting

With call waiting activated you can have multiple active calls. This also results in when you are in a call and another call arrives, the handset will start ringing rather than sending an engaged signal.

  • Activate: *43#[SEND]
  • Cancel: #43#[SEND]
  • Status: *#43#[SEND]

Caller ID

Show or hide your outgoing number to the receiving handset. Note, this may be overridden by your network provider.

  • Hide: #31#[SEND]
  • Show: *31#[SEND]
  • Query: *#31#[SEND]

  1. SEND refers to the (usually) green “CALL” button [return]
  2. Replace destination with the number you wish to set forwarding to. [return]
  3. Replace destination with the number you wish to set forwarding to. [return]
  4. Replace destination with the number you wish to set forwarding to. [return]
  5. Replace destination with the number you wish to set forwarding to. [return]
