Windows 10: Change Name of Network
I like to use the Network Name to differentiate where my computer is for different batch scripts and automated tasks.
Sometimes the network name is set to Network
, Network 2
or something similar, which makes it difficult to differentiate.
To rename the network, we need to edit the registry.
- Open the Registry Editor
- Navigate to the key:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles
- In the subfolders to this key, select the profile you wish to rename. The profile name can be found in the String
ProfileName
- Edit
ProfileName
- Edit the value to your desired new name.
