I like to use the Network Name to differentiate where my computer is for different batch scripts and automated tasks.

Sometimes the network name is set to Network, Network 2 or something similar, which makes it difficult to differentiate.

To rename the network, we need to edit the registry.

  1. Open the Registry Editor
  2. Navigate to the key: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles
  3. In the subfolders to this key, select the profile you wish to rename. The profile name can be found in the String ProfileName
  4. Edit ProfileName
  5. Edit the value to your desired new name.
